incidentally, this year of the dragon brings the end of the "year of mugatu," when everyone - i mean everyone - was taking crazy pills. thankfully, it's now the "year of hansel," which should prove to be more relaxed. and hot.

even though this is no longer the year of fitness, this is good advice nevetheless. holidays over, it's time to get moving again!

2012: the year of...

2011's year of fitness was a success! a 5k run, a treadmill that did not turn into a clothes rack and a few lbs. shed - so much activity has tuckered me out.

the verdict is in and 2012 is the year of sleep! trying to get myself to bed at a reasonable hour (i.e., not 3am) and not oversleeping. wish me luck!

run, forrest, run

i've been using map my run recently - this being the year of fitness and all. i assure you, that i am not as jittery as this route would have me appear...

year of...

although now gone, i was walking across the plaza across from, well The Plaza, not too long ago and came cross these menacing animal heads:

i thought to myself, "gosh, they are quite creepy. except for the dragon, he fits in with the sentiment of the piece." [note: that's art history major speak busting out right there for ya.]

it was only when i overheard someone say, "hey, which one are you again?" that i realized they are the chinese zodiac animals. and, interestingly enough, i am a dragon.

kinda sorta a runner...?

well, the year of fitness continues. i've been following the "couch to 5k" running program on my treadmill and so far i am up to 25 consecutive minutes of running!

i'm slow as molasses, but running nevertheless. even signed up for a 5k in two weeks' time...yikes! wish me luck!

and, i've been doing the "couch to 5k" running plan (which i've already started and stopped twice in recent years).i'm on week 3 now, with the hopes of doing a 5k in april...

the year of the upgrade was a success! i've been kicking around a few themes for 2011 and have decided on the "year of fitness." let's get physical!

'tis the season

in honor of the winter officially arriving, i would like to declare that this year i shall have "the winter of soup." made my first batch last week - a meatball alphabet (tho, alphabets are hard to find these days, so i had to improvise). nevertheless - delish!

a little belated, but happy chinese new year. understandably, dragons and tigers are a firely combination.

so this year, apparently, there is "likely to be a few times that i crash and burn." awesome. but, "regardless of the outcome [i] will no doubt have a most exciting time." here's to the year of the tiger...

ps - the middle schooler in the green hoody (0:30) will be played by manny from modern family. and the chorus teacher by rico suave.

2010 is going to be the "year of the upgrade" - while i'm excited, i have a feeling this might get a bit costly...

on sunday, i hit up the radio city christmas spectacular. for all the years i've lived in & around nyc (appx. 26 of them), i've actually never been.

if i was 9, i think i would of found it just that. not sure if "spectacular" is the best adjective, but not a bad way to spend an hour and a half this time of year.

it's hard for me to believe that 2009 is coming to a end. with that, it's time for a new theme for 2010. year of____?

so far, we've had the "year of decisions" (2007), the "year of rest" (2008) and, of course, this year's "year of new york city," aka YoNYC. so, here's a new table topic:

as you can see, crate and barrel has suggested "year of cookies" -

which, is not a bad suggestion. perhaps "muffin of the week" could morph into the "year of baking"? how about "year of reinvention"? "year of hijinx"?
