who knew?

...that--25 years after its release--hall & oates were nominated for "sara smile." i always wished that had an "h," but at least i get us use our hall & oates tag again.

actually, i think this may have been a recent whatevs facebook status, so i'm guessing she knew.

ps - check out more awesome drawings from the etchasketchist on flickr.

great together

as you know, i heart hall & oates. plus, i heart keyboard cat. add them together and you get this gem of a mash-up.

i also love that oates and keyboard cat wore matching outfits. and that i get to use the "hall and oates" tag again.

my favorite e-card yet

this card is most excellent. very excited to be able to use our 'hall and oates' label again. my only concern is that seeing as i am usually the oates in this duo, it's better for me to be the one receiving this card. send away.

who knew, oates?

prior to last night, my first and only experience with karaoke was back in 1998. the setting: beijing, bizarro karaoke bar, joined by a group of chinese students we had met on the street and who invited us to help them practice their english. i have a vivid memory of being in a private room belting out, 'i believe the children are our future...' from whitney houston's 'greatest love of all'.

so, i was pleasantly surprised by last night's adventures in karaoke. a decade later: similar setting, but this time new york, bizarro BYOB karaoke bar, joined by a group of fellow trolls. i will have a vivid memory of belting out 'maneater' in the role (as per usual) of oates. who knew it would be so enjoyable?

good times, good times.

whatevs happened to...

to steal a theme from sweet pleats, turns out lou diamond phillips is currently starring in the national touring production of camelot.

how do i know? i've seen about 37 ads for it on TV, in the span of the last hour. worn out.

while i'm sure lou is a good draw, wouldn't it be great if it starred oates? and maybe hall, but only in a supporting role.

who's in charge here?

unfortunately, it's not oates.

came across a blog called who's in charge here? that seeks - by popular vote - to analyze bands' publicity photos to ascertain who is, in fact, the leader. squeaking by with one extra vote, it was hall. but, alas, we knew that anyway. didn't we, oates?
