i particularly liked his sweet "cartoon gallery" jam (1:07).

dear yahoo!
fun with skymall
you know one of my favorite part of air travel is the joy of perusing skymall. my faves from this issue:
facetrainer...not exactly sure what i'm training my face to do, but this is totally hot.
litter kwitter potty training kit...for your cat. (that cat's expression is seriously priceless, no?)

love this
admirable, but coco loco (environment edition)
just the charms
apparently there is now a company that sells cereal marshmallows... just the marshmallows, no cereal included.
i can't decide if that is kinda grody, or kinda awesome. either way, you can purchase yours here.

off to see the wizard
spotted this at lunch the other day outside the gershwin theatre, home to wicked. sometimes even the great and powerful wizard himself needs a little touch up.
crafternoons!
this week's project was a refurb of my parents' old coffee & side table - lovely mid-century pair by lane - that i rescued from storage. they've had these since 1974 - before i was even a glimmer their eye. here they are before:
and...2 home depots, 1 lowe's, murphy's oil soap, howards restore-a-finish & feed-n-wax, a bit of sandpaper & steel wool and some good ol' fashioned elbow grease later, here is the (re)finished product:
incidentally, my father purchased the tables at a furniture store that was right across the street from my current apartment (which he was working on building at the time). who knew they'd be coming back to the 'hood - some 36 years later?

my new obsession
...is "catalog living," which bills itself as, "a look into the exciting lives of the people who live in your catalogs."
the blog records the fictional life of gary, elaine & their children through the pages of those oh-so-pristine-impossibly-perfect-and-sometimes-ridiculous home goods catalogs. high-larious:

question
who knew?
spotted by frequent TFAAF reader Yr. Fav. Librarian, apparently former real world-ers going into politics is becoming an epidemic.
first, kevin powell (ny). now, sean duffy (boston) won the republican primary in wisconsin. who knew the fresh-faced lumberjack would be running for congress?
(thanks, YFL!)

dear saks
snowflakes? really? i realize that temps were a bit cooler in new york today, but according to the calendar it is still summer. why, oh why, would you be projecting snowflakes on fifth avenue tonight?
who approved this? (rodent edition)
i realize it's halloween time in the stores and all, but decorative rodents, pottery barn? really?
even worse is their basket o' rats...

i heart junk
for part of my vacation i drove up to brimfield, massachusetts for their final antiques show for the year. i was in utter flea market heaven:
didn't end up buying too much, but i did procure a fun union jack painting on glass:
just need to fill in a few chips on the frame with a bit of watercolor and we'll be good to go.
at least they're honest

this little gnome...
is going to be on vacation as of tomorrow afternoon and for all of next week.
agenda includes, but is not limited to: florida to visit my niece, massachusetts for the brimfield antiques show, redecorating my apartment (year of the upgrade, and all), visit with the extended clan, crafternoons and naps.
have a great labor day weekend, y'all!
just in case...
barnes & nobles' professionally printed directions to their new(ish) store on e86th was confusing, there is this handy cardboard reminder - outside of the glass. nice work, neighbors.
table topic #35
haven't done a table topic in ages! inspired by the above headline on yahoo:
35. Do you have a food phobia? If so, what?
Surprisingly, raisins (as pictured) are on yahoo's list. I quite enjoy them, personally. And while I don't like fish at all, i wouldn't necessarily call it a phobia. Same with vinegar. Aversion, severe dislike - yes. Phobia, no. But what I do have a tremendous disgust - and dare I say, phobia - for is mayonnaise. I simply cannot deal. Ew. Ew. Ew.
