Tyra hate mail spawns new phrase I am loving...

"Us Norms". See Tyra Hate Blog Post for appropriate use.

"A woman who has been paid because she is extraordinarily beautiful is telling us norms that we should embrace our natural selves? And we’re supposed to applaud her “bravery” during this ridiculous publicity stunt? Bite me, Ty-Ty, you egocentric monster."

Six Kids You'll Find At A Birthday Party

Check out this great segmentation....

Which one were you?

Señor Puker is my favourite!

dearest TFAAF readers,

while bizarro gnome is excited to see the flame posting again, she must apologize for the quality of the referenced link on the above post. the correct link can be found here:

she would also like to point out that her fave is "captain destructo."

100% pure adrenaline!

of course, dirty dancing is a classic of all classics, but let's not forget point break...

"yo, johnny! i see you in the next life!"

om...om...

attention world...my mantra these days (and until 10/9) will be the following:

hope you enjoyed the dubbed, anime version as much as i did.

now playing

i think this would be a great name for a band. i probably would've seen them at roseland 15 years ago:

this week's swap...

is an unmatching set of dishes.

well, to be fair, the mug and one bowl seem to match. and then the dinner plate and another bowl seem to match. they're just not cohesive enough for me.

so many moutons, so little time

the classic chilled white

the rosé (who knew?)

and the magnum (or is that the double magnum?)

(photos 1&2 credit: SRB)

why i feel old, part 20

apparently, nirvana's bleach album is going to be re-issued later this year...for its 20th anniversary. 20th?!

sigh.

blinded by the light

had good seats on the side of the stage for the kings of leon on saturday. unfortunately, it was in direct view of a spotlight:

ah, that's better:

open letter to the opening act

dear glasvegas,

first off, you are not the clash.

second, wearing your own t-shirts on stage? really? who approved that?

cheers,
bizarro gnome

concession questions

- who is drinking o'doul's at a concert? and where is its second apostrophe?
- how are "sensible chips" different than potato chips, aside from the extra 50 cents?
- and what is involved in a $1.00 cheese cup?

big and small, close and far

i haven't been one to post on september 11th, as the tone of the blog is not congruent with my feelings on the day.

but, every year i re-read my journal entries from that time and later added re-reading bits of Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close - one of my favorite books. it's one in which september 11th features heavily, as our protagonist oskar lost his dad in the twin towers. a few excerpts that remind me exactly of that day...

It really is beautiful weather.
Yeah.
I can't remember more beautiful weather than this.
That's true.
It's a shame to be inside.
I guess so.
But here we are...

On my walk home I stopped in front of an electronics store, the front window was a grid of televisions, all but one of them were showing the buildings, the same images over and over as if the world itself were repeating, a crowd had gathered on the sidewalk...

The world is so big and small, in the same moment we are close and far.

parental tweets

have you ever wanted to live with a curmudgeon? now you can vicariously with "shit my dad says" on twitter. gems include:

check out more here.

(thanks, bex!)

d'oh

oh, stupid criminals.

just wondering

what does this even mean? what constitutes an "out of town call," anyhow?

just wondering (part deux)

doesn't extra hot fudge and extra nuts defeat the purpose of going with low-cal tasti-d instead of real ice cream?

hey, sailor!

things that make you go hmmm...

some food for thought c/o the "webcomic" surviving the world:
