happy (early) valentine's day!

dog show redux

thanks to JS - frequent TFAAF reader/commenter and frequent live event video recorder - i have a brief clip of the one & only Sir Barksalot to cherish.

i must day, the scrolling text and color commentary really is a great touch!

who approved this?

one of my biggest pet peeves is seasonally inappropriate footwear. case in point, the woman on the subway yesterday i open-toed shoes. (see poor snapshot above).

granted, it was unseasonably warm yesterday - a high of 65º. but, it's fricken' FEBRUARY, people. wrong.

my new obsession

...is M.I.A.'s paper planes.

while i can't get behind those ridonk costumes she wore to the grammies (granted, preggers on her due date), i can't get enough of this jam on my ipod.

YoNYC #6

DOG SHOW! why yes, it was the 133rd annual westminster kennel club dog show at MSG tonight. best in show is tomorrow, but i think tonight's session still counts as a night out on the town.

who knew?

who knew that my favorite dog from last year - sir barksalot - would again make the group finals?!

and, turns out, his nickname is "barclay". he's also a "wash and wear dog" that requires minimal grooming.

tried to get a glimpse of him backstage. but, sadly, he was going for the night. maybe next year...

les terriers sont mes types favorites...

in honor of the dog show, here is my favorite dog song of all time. "terriers," by kids in the hall. the 90s are back, afterall.

Stuff that is OTT

So sitting in Starbucks yesterday, mid-west style, and overheard this ridonks 'wedding planning' conversation.

Wedding Planner to bride-to-be: "How many people will be in your bridal party?"

Bride-to-be: "Seven bridesmaids, seven Groomsmen, plus a flower girl and a pageboy and a ring bearer."

WTF?

OPP, take 9

As it turns out, his poor spelling would be the least of her worries...

happy feet and more

oh, skymall. it's been awhile. i forgot about how great your gift options are. here are a few fab selections from the most recent issue:

"happy feet" foot alignment socks

traveling pet seat

alien gnome bandits garden accent

what year is this?

splattered-paint jeans? what is banana thinking?

table topic #27

multiple choice today:

27. Would you rather have a great wardrobe or an amazing car?

i'm neither a clothes person, nor a car person. but, i'd have to choose clothes. not just because I don't have much use for one in NYC. it's just that i've never been into cars.

i have always driven any P.O.S. car that was handed down to me - the maroon chevy caprice family station wagon, the grey oldsmobile nicknamed "the silver bullet," the pink "champagne supernova" lebaron & the lavender ford probe that came with insta-car payments.

hmmm...actually...on second thought, i'll pick an amazing car. it's about time.

snowy day in new york

a wintry central park from the M72 bus.

select-a-haircut

came across this poster in the window of a barbershop - haircut by numbers. i'm quite partial to #2 & #13, myself.

does M&M's World count?

why i feel old, part 15

when did starbucks become a middle school lunchroom? i counted 14 girls in 3 cliques at around 11.30. and while i'm at it, vanilla bean frappuccinos & marble loaf does not a well balanced meal make.

this cracks me up

checked the properties of one of our powerpoint files at work and came across this fine author. let me just say my mama can draft a mean deck.

nice try

nice attempt barnes & noble, but you will never stop the crowds who linger & lounge on your floors.

who approved this?

OK, i don't portend to have much fashion sense. but, today i was walking behind a woman that had on: acid-washed jeans with a rip in the ass, gold hot pants underneath exposed, blue hoodie and a gold lamé fanny pack. when good hipsters go bad.

mayanism tipping point

mayanism is sweeping the nation. not only do we have 2012 to look forward to, we can now get our own mayan horoscopes.

today, pre-superbowl party, i squeezed in the Whitney Museum of American Art. the highlight for me was their "Synthetic" exhibition, looking at modernists use of acrylics and other synthetic media. unfortch, only one floor's worth, but i enjoyed all the same.
