scarily bad (tattoo edition)

as per usual, facebook has served me another 'lonely hearts' ad tonight. i'm over it, but the visual did remind me of the bizarro tattoo i saw this morning returning from my coffee run.

the woman had the same visual as used in the facebook ad - a broken heart (above). one side of the heart was on one boob. the other half of the heart was on the other, such that when her cleavage was connected (?) intact (?) - not sure of the right word here - but when her cleavage was together the heart was complete. scarily bad, indeed.

Well I keep getting hounded by - "Looking to leave Starcom? Mindshare's hiring smart media professionals like you!" messages.

Am THOROUGHLY convinced they're monitoring my behavior outside of the Facebook network. But considering that they must be just serving ads rampantly to people within the Starcom Network (I never de-listed), this could start a war if served to the wrong person!! Mr. J.M. comes to mind. ;)

And to think, I used to be a fan of behavioral targeting. Now I'm just annoyed.

facebook totally does monitor your activities outside of itself...they even had Beacon, which made it part of your news feed...(from adweek)

Facebook introduced Beacon as part of its Social Ads platform introduced last year. It let third-party sites place tags on their pages that would transmit purchases and other actions users took on the site into their News Feed on Facebook. The system soon came under criticism for not giving users notice their activities were being broadcast.
