delicious dish

my favorite thing about summer? homemade watermelon salsa. it's also, incidentally, the easiest thing in the world to make (assuming you can use a knife to cut things). you can find the recipe for it here.

year of...

although now gone, i was walking across the plaza across from, well The Plaza, not too long ago and came cross these menacing animal heads:

i thought to myself, "gosh, they are quite creepy. except for the dragon, he fits in with the sentiment of the piece." [note: that's art history major speak busting out right there for ya.]

it was only when i overheard someone say, "hey, which one are you again?" that i realized they are the chinese zodiac animals. and, interestingly enough, i am a dragon.

who knew?

last week, i went to a conference for work. one of the things i inadvertently learned...they make tablecloths that repel liquids (as i observed having spilt my tea). genius! who knew?

you're wearing shorts...and a half shirt

work just reposted our dress code as a friendly reminder for the summer. why does it remind me of this skit...? (with apologies for the video-taping-off-the-tv-quality).

are you serious?

pursuant to the above, see, someone else can appreciate the taping of movie clips...

if i wasn't serious now it wouldn't be uploaded would it?

dream job?

aiport+people watching+blogging? i would totally be up for this gig (too bad you have to be canadian).

classy

i guess it's related?

i guess if i like ben folds i might like to watch a man eating a brick...?

who approved this? (footwear edition)

um, why is carlos santana designing and or marketing and or licensing ladies foot wear? bizarro. shouldn't he get back to duetting with rob thomas or nickelback? who approved this?

see...

this is why i never put my biz card in public raffles - who wants their card on display in a chipotle so that some nutter can stalk you?

am i right, gene lefevre of fox?

so true

welcome to subway

glozell tells it like it is. "welcome to my house" (:45) and "i need you to take off the booger gloves" (3:24) are my favorite parts.

overheard

a woman in central park giving directions to someone on the other end of her cellphone:

"we're by that gate and the rock"

um, good luck with that...

about that time

it might be time for a haircut, now that i'm considering rocking a side ponytail. just sayin'.

who approved this? (glutton edition)

i love me some friendly's. (with apologies to mars,) you can't go wrong with a reese's peanut buttercup sundae.

this, however, is much too much - 12 scoops of ice cream! who approved this?

my new obsession

...is, perhaps like everyone else, spotify - on demand music streaming. i have been listening to lots of old albums this week.

kick would definitely be one of my desert island discs (not that they have discs anymore). i remember seeing inxs live at the nassau colosseum - i think it was 1991.

my dad & i were backstage when they were coming through. everyone was ushered into a side room by security as the band didn't want anyone to see them (divas). i ended up next to debbie gibson, waiting for them to pass.

own it

as many of you know, nyc recently introduced letter grading system (a la LA) for restaurants.

here, a rarely posted C grade (usually it's appealed with "grade pending"). way to own it, szechuan kitchen.

fun with sprinkles

kinda digging katy perry's sprinkle nails. super cute.

hilarious unicorn

this is fantastic - unicorns on computer paper is a blog created by a comedian who, at 10 years old, was completely obessessed with unicorns. his sister found a stack of his drawings and they're now being posted online.

not surprisingly, my faves are "english unicorn" and "good grades unicorn."

this little gnome...

if i didn't already have 17 throw pillows already in my possession, i might consider picking one of these up.

just in case...

...you are looking for a new job, IHOP is coming to nyc. be warned, however, that they do ask if you are awaiting trial for a criminal offense.

oh, it *is* gettin' real

you know the deal with those little shopping cars they got...

(thanks, MB!)

d(og).m.v.

now why didn't i invent driver's licenses...for dogs?!

who approved this? (bébé edition)

just in case you get invited to the beckhams and need to get harper seven a gift, behold the hermes coloring book. oh, and you are reading that price right - $135! who approved this?

not so nice try

you know i love me some poster graffito. this has to be the most pathetic attempt i've seen in a while. really? that's all you could think to do - color in & cross out the Rs? not impressed.

this little gnome...

...is back from my adventures! my journey was fantastic, but now it's time to get back to the bizarroness. enjoy!

my new obsession

i cannot stop playing this song. definitely my jam of the summer...if not the year!!

blessed kitty

this takes licensing to a whole new level. given that it's cat food, it kinda seems like it should be "chicken soup for kittens," stopping there, no?

frau?

sometimes my computer thinks i'm german. "frau murphy" doesn't exactly sound right, tho, does it?

why i feel old, part 36

has it really been 25 years?? let my cameron go...

that'd be nice

well that's a pretty balance.
