my new obsession
i'm totally digging "portlandia" on ifc with fred armisen and carrie brownstein. i do wish it was more laugh-out-loud-funny. but, if you've spent any time in portland, it's quite amusing, nevertheless.
i've always wanted to be a runner
the year of fitness is going swimmingly thus far. totally digging my treadmill.
and, i've been doing the "couch to 5k" running plan (which i've already started and stopped twice in recent years).i'm on week 3 now, with the hopes of doing a 5k in april...

sir barksalot!
apologies for the delayed postings. last week was a bit nutty with the illustrious westminster kennel club dog show in down.
thankfully, i was able to spy the one & only sir barksalot again this year. unfortunately, he was bested by a beautiful chinese shar-pei named miss jayne hathaway.

why i feel old, part 31
i've been watching clips of pearl jam's unplugged lately, reminiscing.
i actually went to that taping. amazingly, i had won tickets off the radio on the day of my 16th birthday. the taping was a few days later.
my mom drove me down and came to the show with me. we waited outside the studios in astoria in the freezing temps. i think they let us in around 11pm and started taping around midnight. we then had to drive the hour and a half home - waaay past mom's bedtime. what a trooper.
it recently occurred to me that it was 1992 - 19(!) years ago. i'm old!

the aftermath
so, last night i was invited to an impromptu black tie awards ceremony for work. as i only found out that i was going in the morning, i had to run home to get dressed and rush back.
dinner was just fine and i even had to go on stage to accept the award that i really had nothing to do with. even funnier, however, is what i found when i got home:

sure, vw darth vader was super-cute. but as superbowl ads go, this was my favorite. even got the chills a little by the time they showed the marquee.

i love, love, love henry rollins. big winner. did i mention i love him?
apparently, ol' hank is turning 50 this week - 50! this, in turn, makes me feel old.
for as much as i do say that i want to be old, somehow the idea of 50 scares me a little. i'd totally be up for mid-30s going on late-70s.
let's just skip the next 4 decades, and get right to my blue rinse, ok? thanks.

the other day, as i was headed to work i passed a group of teenagers and thought:
1) "you two are way too young for public kissing,"
2) "pull up your pants," and
3) "don't even get me started about the smoking."
