this little gnome...

is taking a wee break for turkey.

happy thappy, everyone!

the bird's too small to feed us all

...so pump it. pump it up, now pump it. pump the bird.

i happily watch this every year. ps - how young is chris rock?!

this is

...the smallest banana smoothie known to mankind. there is a fine line between cuisine and coco loco.

who approved this? (check-in edition)

really? the founders of foursquare are now airbrushed (and taller) gap models? who approved this?

attention

i can for give the water being turned off in my apartment for plumbing repairs. but i cannot forgive this horrnedo clip art.

when do i start?

i could totally be down with this. (no offense, of course).

we're gettin' the band back together!

given that we are finally all on the same continent, this fish is meeting up with TFAAF's other fish and the flame this weekend - woot!

(incidentally, this is the first google image you get when searching for "two fish and flame." this photo features one fish, one crustacean and no flames. talk amongst yourselves.)

have a good weekend, everyone!

who knew?

...that jeff goldblum was such a whiz on the piano? amazing.

best.prize.ever.

a year of free taxis just might be the best prize i've ever seen in a sweepstakes.

jingle balls

just in case you have an extra $40,000 laying around this holiday season, feel free to pick up these gigantic christmas ornaments for the front lawn of your stately mansion.

fun with fashion

spotted this gentleman on the corner of 57th & 6th over the weekend, coming out of a pop-up fur coat sample sale. he was certainly the target market in this burgundy number. fur coats for men fascinate me, but he was owning it.

fun with fashion (part deux)

this woman got on the bus in head to toe powder blue. her skirt had an abundance of kittens printed on it (shame you can't see that) and she had this topper of a headband. and, oh, she was waaaay too old be in this get up on a day that was not halloween.

is it just me...?

or does princess to be kate (now catherine) middleton have man hands?

i know, not very nice. but just sayin'.

maybe it's just an awkward angle her fingers now hang with that flossy rock on it.

so true

poor harrison ford.

my new obsession

are my dining chairs that i snagged at the jonathan adler warehouse sale and had covered in an amazing fabric from hable construction. smitten.

super cute

i wish i could pull off the colored tights and open-toed shoes look. super cute.

success!

the marathon was a great success - congrats to frequent TFAAF reader murphdawg20 for finishing! here are a few snaps:

early start in bay ridge, brooklyn.

sixteen miles later, in harlem - note the neon butterfly.

handmade signs c/o an after school program near marcus garvey park.

mile 26 - only 0.2 miles left to go!

no, really?

what part of "no parking" don't you understand?

this little gnome...

will be away for a bit, having a fam-tastic weekend in nyc, cheering on frequent TFAAF reader murphdawg as she runs the marathon.

have a great weekend everyone!

youtube costume (part une)

i have to admit, this is a little creepy, but keyboard cat was a fantastic costume idea. now why didn't i think of that? play him off, keyboard cat...

youtube costume (part deux)

this poor dog does not look amused, but he does look pretty genius, as far as costumes go:

and, do enjoy the remix for good measure:

how rude!!

so, this was my experience voting tonight...

voter (me): hi, i believe this is my district.
pleasant pollworker: ok, name?
voter (me): bizarro gnome
curmudgeon electoral inspector: sigh. well, you waited until the last minute.
pleasant pollworker: ok, here we go - sign here, please.
curmudgeon electoral inspector: why did you wait until the last minute?
pleasant pollworker: please excuse him. you do not have to answer that.
voter (me): exactly.

in the immortal words of stephanie tanner, "how rude!" now yes, i did arrive just as the polls were closing. but, the polls were legally open until 9pm in new york and i was perfectly within my constitutional right to vote. and there were still voters coming in behind me.

total bummer, new york. i may just have to write a letter of complaint to the board of elections...

is it wrong?

...that i'm kinda bummed b/c, with these elections, we'll be seeing much less of fred armistan as gov. david paterson?

how does that work?

i know that most races are predicable via polls and statistical analyses, but i'm always fascinated at how quickly races are called.

new york - a state of 19.5 million - was called with only 5% of the precincts voting. granted it was mccain, but arizona was called at 0% reporting.

scantron? is that you?

i miss those ancient voting machines. new york's new fill-in-the-bubble ballots gave me scantron test flashbacks of my teen years.

ps - apparently, you can get 500 scantron sheets for $59.95. who knew?

hmmm

i have no recollection of ever purchasing a train cd. don't judge me.

don't forget to vote!

happy early election day!

my new obsession

...is nyc grid, a photo blog dedicated to exploring new york block by block.

these are a few snaps from my block. tho, so much has changed already in these pix. that being said, constant change is part of part of the reason i heart new york.

check out more snaps of nyc here.

further proof that i am a giant nerd

...not that we needed any, but i think this trio of laptops (which i was using simultaneously for a project over the weekend) further confirms that i am a nerdberger.

happy (belated) halloween

not much can top the TFAAF halloween party of 2006, but maybe one year i'll try again. in the meantime, i quite enjoyed my neighbor's haunted hallway/house complete with a fog machine and--as you can see by today's remnants--a coffin.
