oh, craigslist

given my recent returned obsession with the strokes, i've been scouting tix to their show at msg on friday. always a few gems to be had on that craigslist:

I'm looking for someone to go to the strokes show with. i'm 35/m, laid-back, interesting, heavy into indie music, etc. i don't have tickets; i'd need you to pay for your ticket but i'll take care of tracking down tickets for us, drinks are on me all night, and if we get along the next show is on me.

Come on folks, there are TONS of Strokes tickets out there. Nobody wants to see these idiots, it's not 2001 and a Strokes concert isn't getting anybody laid. Show is in two days. Stop trying to get over face for these things already or you are going to eat them. Thanks for your time.

really?

really? there was an "outcry" over wonder woman's costume? aren't there real problems for us to be worrying about?

new favorite jam

new york, i love you, but you're freaking me out...

sigh

oh, facebook. i thought we were over all those insulting ads...

a dating ad featuring a sleeping man cuddling with a newborn baby? really?

i concur

it doesn't help that i have a vicious cycle of "won'tsomnia" (as the general says and as reflected in my 2am posting time), but this captures my sentiment nevertheless.

they're baaack

i went off the strokes for a while there, but i have to say i am really digging their new jam "under cover of darkness." has kind of a phoenix vibe to it:

goodbye, liz

a belated farewell to dame elizabeth taylor. i would like to remember her by her glamorous portrait by warhol:

but, unfortunately, this pic of coco characters also comes to mind:

kinda sorta a runner...?

well, the year of fitness continues. i've been following the "couch to 5k" running program on my treadmill and so far i am up to 25 consecutive minutes of running!

i'm slow as molasses, but running nevertheless. even signed up for a 5k in two weeks' time...yikes! wish me luck!

my new obsession

not sure how this will jive with the "year of fitness," but my new obession is the ice cream maker attachment to my kitchenaid. santa brought that for my birthday.

so far i've only made one batch - strawberries & cream made from fresh plant city strawberries, direct from florida. it was delish!

sad!

i'm not partial to cute things...but i've always had a soft spot for knut, the german polar bear. sadly, he passed away this week at the berlin zoo. goodbye, knut!

oh well

my bracket is officially dunzo. thanks, syracuse.

oh, well - there's always lacrosse...

why i feel old, part 32

here's a reunion of the cast of stand by me. great flick, but 1) it came out 25(!) years ago, and 2) age is not kind!

why i feel 5 years old

that sign says POOP.
hahaha.

goodbye...cheese

well, lent is upon us again and this year i am giving up cheese (thanks to whatevs for the idea). this is going to be tricky...!

finally!

after a few mishaps, the new dining table has arrived and i love it! minimalist design at its finest c/o blu dot. i'm thinking now that the space needs a rug of some sort. sigh - interior design in never done, is it?

my new (old) obsession

i've recently rediscovered one of my favorite albums - loose, by victoria williams.

i had it on cassette back in 1994. the previous year saw a classic album of covers of her songs (sweet relief), but i quite enjoy her originals.

"you r loved" always makes me smile, as does the very sweet cover of "what a wonderful world." and "my ally," a duet with dave pirner, is one of the loveliest - albeit platonic - love songs ever recorded.

who approved this? (toolbox edition)

oh, tom brady. i know who approved this - your supermodel wife. but really? now you've taken to wearing a headband? so wrong.

it's official

new age demo! yesterday's survey was the last time i'll be able to click "25-34." unless, of course, i get into the hot tub time machine.

up, up and away

scientists recreated the floating house with its ballons from up - and it worked! very cute idea.

lionel? is that you?

(thanks to yr. fav. librarian for the excellent find)

who approved this? (royal crafternoons edition)
