kittens!

my friend's status made me chuckle:

if only kittens could tattoo.

(thanks, JR!)

kittens! (part deux)

i'm her mom! no she's not!

never. gets. old.

i'm sorry...

but a "whopper bar," by any other name is a burger king. plain & simple. grrr.

incidentally

just after i posted the previous bk post, i was served this ad by google. stop following me, bk. and interesting targeting "everest college" - if you even exist.

hoff + dancing = awesome

i've never watched the show in my life, but i *just* might have to watch this season of dancing with the stars. don't hassle the hoff, judges. don't hassle the hoff.

art nerd

i walked home tonight and decided that after i exited central park i'd walk straight across 72nd st. on the north side, between 2nd & 3rd, i came a cross a patch of sidewalk in which the signatures of famous women artists were inscribed:

had never passed it before and not sure why they are there, but my art history nerd self did get a little smile on my face.

sitting in a chair...in the sky

as i'm preparing to fly down to florida this week, i was reminded by this clip - an oldie, but a goodie - and so true:

who approved this? (leisure edition)

spotted by frequent TFAAF reader murphdawg20, these are giant balls that you zip your kids into in a pool in the middle of the mall. oh so wrong for so many reasons.

poetry (or not) on the platform

an ode (if you can call it that) on the platform:

waiting for the train, none in sight
fighting my boredom with all my might.
a man spits -
it doesn't go far.
two lights like glowing eyes, in the dark -
my best ray of hope.

it's hard to notice, but it is preceded with an added qualifier of "horrible." and followed by:

"I bet he twirled his moustache while writing this. F*ing hipster." Touché.

why i feel old, part 32

macaulay culkin turned 30 this week. 30!

the last time i checked he was 8. sigh.

(thanks, SC!)

say it ain't so...

really, gap? stirrup pants? of all things, you are bringing back stirrup pants?

this is worse than jeggings.

who approved this? (locker edition)

magnets that look like a.b.c. (already been chewed) gum? ew. who approved this?

why i heart macy's

besides the fact that they basically pay you to take their merchandise from the store with their ridiculous discounts, i love the old wooden escalators @ herald square.

so true

this version "creep" (as used in the social network trailer) does make everything more dramatic:

play me off , keyboard cat...

if i ever open a store

it just might have to be both antiques and cheese.

i'm lovin' it

i can do without the rain, but these temperatures in the 60s are just delightful. keep it up, new york.

here kitty, kitty

who knew?

on the heels of the northern mariana islands, who knew that abigail filmore had her own coin?

saucy

what to do with a bushel of tomatoes from my parents' garden? an oven roasted tomato sauce over a little fresh pasta. heaven.

good work, facebook

very good use of targeted ads. why yes, i would likely be interested in "funny lionel t-shirts."

who approved this? (unfashion edition)

jeans + leggings...we're now calling them jeggings? really? who approved the jeggings themselves and who approved the ridonkulous name?

question

what would coolidge do?

now filming on 5th ave

i always enjoy checking out which film needs parking on the streets of nyc. this week it's "someday this pain will be useful to you," based on the young adult novel of the same name.

what time is it?

(special thanks to TFAAF reader SRB for spotting this amazing find!)

who approved this? (snackfood edition)

that's right, that is indeed 24 inches of caramel popcorn. in a tube.

this week's baking

...is not muffins, but rather an apple-cherry crisp. delish.

right up my alley!

speaking of baking, what do you get when you combine my enjoyment of baking and my love of modern art? a mondrian cake! amazing.

(thanks to regular TFAAF reader, Yr. Fav. Librarian for the find!)

can't. look. away.

i couldn't decide if this should be a "coco loco" or a "who approved this?"

so, i'll just say that i can't look away from this crazy halloween costume of "the situation."

attack of the cauliflower

my new routine on sunday is hitting up the farmers market. ended up with this monster of a cauliflower. was quite interesting to dismember, but worth it for a delicious veggie curry.

my new obsession

speaking of delicious, my new obsession is watermelon salsa. so easy to make and sooooo yummy.

you can find a super simple recipe here.

who knew?

that american samoa & the northern mariana islands had their own quarters?

have sharpie, will deface

uh oh, there is a moustache bandit on the loose in the subway...

somehow, i think andy would approve.

really, buble?

a man-gagement ring? really?

dear mta,

if the train is - in fact - coming in 20 minutes, i think i'd prefer not to know. just a sayin'.

who approved this? (accessories edition)

as submitted by TFAAF reader SRB: "who approved this hot pink faux hair bow comb?!"

my new hobby

...is taking online surveys. i get served a ton. some questions are just absurd:

um, have no interest in going to a razor blade website, but thanks for asking.

nor, do i need a hot pocket e-card, but thanks for offering.

and, what survey would be complete without a survey of the survey?

why yes, it was delightful.

kids got the beat

flossy, flossy.

gets me every time

i heart peter's epic battles vs. the chicken.

overheard

"You know, when eat I'm, like, a savage, you know? With, like, rotisserie chicken, you know?"

no, actually. i don't know.

who knew?

that there is an actual marvin (sic) gardens from monopoly. and, incidentally, the only space on the board not within the city limits of atlantic city.

speaking of gardens...

remember the garden i planted with my dad a few months back? it's totally lush now!

yummy veggies

and for dinner i made a delish israeli couscous with roasted cherry & grape tomatoes from the garden, paired with the best broccoli of your life.

yummy and way better than those vegan muffins from last week.

dear yahoo!

i think you need to give jimmy choo/saks their money back for serving me that ad...SO not the target market.
