welcome to womenhood

i ♥ the dan band. here's their recreation of single ladies:

you know drives me crazy? walking.

wouldn't it be great if i could just scoot myself around places? almost if it was like i was wearing pants that had wheels? and i could have business meetings on the go? and use the photocopier without moving a muscle?

well, look no further - it's "The Chariot," designed by Exmovere.

great gift

...for anyone who likes to nap at their desk (ahem, van ramblings). it's the keyboard pillow:

springtime in new york

...is lovely while it lasts, with soft blooms along the streets. can't wait for the cherry blossoms - any day now. you can track the ones at the brooklyn botanic gardens here

fun game

...for your next trip to brooklyn OR when searching for the hipster of your dreams:

oh, BR. oh, BK

i always loved bob ross (RIP) and his happy little trees. here's bob's take on The King...or is that a self-portrait??

question...

how did they get away with this for two movies?

imaginary tweets

here at TFAAF, we enjoy imaginary conversations

so, in response to van ramblings 'old fart rant' below, here is my version of an imaginary twitter convo between her and intern james:

ps - yes, i'm sorry, but as you can see i've always felt that 'twitter' kinda sounds diiiiirty...

BTW

I can't stand Zac Efron. No real reason, just cause he is everywhere here in the UK and promoting that ridiculous movie '17 Again' where apparently 37 is so old that you 'wish' you could do-over your glorious teen years.

Ok negative rants are now over. Thanks for listening.

Old Fart Rant

Let's stop glorifying the young. Generation G or whatever their new name is. So they grew up with the digital world. Big friggin deal. What else have they done? Ok I sound bitter. I am.

But my bitterness has recently intensified when the other day I was in a training session and the 'Grad' James, who is 17, was invited to join presumably to learn. But turns out it was so we could use him as our sample of one. After every slide James was asked.....James do you blog? James do you watch TV anymore? James do you load videos to YouTube? James do you Twitter?

James you are so amazing, you do stuff online.

Seriously I wish I was born in this generation when apparently 'existing' is enough to make an impression. Never mind that they are all going to be socially retarded because they only communicate with each other online or via mobile. Or the fact that half of them can't spell properly because of their text language.

I feel better now that I got my age crisis out on 'paper' :-)

hey, you know what would be great...

if i had a great big half ear of corn right now. and afterwards a great big ice cream for dessert. not to mention a great big toothbrush for after the meal. and a great big tennis racquet for a bit of exercise.

you can enjoy (or purchase) more ridiculously-sized products from greatbigstuff.com.

are you lookin' for me A&E

i'm wondering if A&E is looking for me. it's upfront time again in the advertising/media world. they must be looking for peeps in "the biz". i don't think anyone else cares that they are the 4th largest cable network, really.

love this

YoNYC #16

brunch in SoHo followed by being leisurely in the sun on a roof top with panoramic views makes for a fine saturday indeed.

food, glorious food

and we wonder why america is fat...check out culinary delights such as the deep fried cadbury creme egg and the bacon wrapped french toast sticks stonehenge at thisiswhyyourefat:

i really hope...

that this statistic isn't true.
98.3%?
really?
we are in trouble.

as a matter of fact...

my happy place does, in fact, have chocolate milk...

YoNYC #15

this week, i caught The Flight of the Conchords. i ♥ jemaine & bret. even better was the fact that the show was at Radio City Music Hall - a perfect YoNYC venue.

enjoy an audience recording (people! download it now! live! right here!):

admirable, but coco loco (hot beverage edition)

last weekend, i cleaned out & reorganized my kitchen cabinets. turns out i had an abundance of tea. while wanting variety is admirable, 10 different boxes are a bit coco loco, no?

i'll have an obama roll, please

speaking of sushi...

check out these cute little knitted pieces:

is this appropriate, facebook?

the W line as WTF? hmmm...

trippy

you can find more op art here, from scientific american.

YoNYC #14

haven't had a YoNYC in awhile, so i'm going to count my pre-Easter jaunt to Dylan's Candy Bar with the throngs of tourists. i've always loved their candy-inlay floor (above).

muffin of the week

this week's "muffin of the week" is a very delightful blueberry-banana:

oh, the hoff

...and your manly soap dispenser.

good advice

what would leonardo say?

introducing the "mona greasa." i think i would find this pretty impressive - if it wasn't hamburger grease he was using. ew.

happy easter!

...and zombies?!

"it is truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains..."

apparently this book is for reals, yo.

who approved this? (actor-turned-musician edition)

while field of dreams is a great movie, i've never been a fan of kevin costner. now he's in a band? on tour? thanks, but no thanks.

my little dress-up pony

my little pony apparently has a soft spot for hollywood (and johnny depp to boot). here s/he is as edward scissorhands and captain jack sparrow. they are the creation of artist Mari Kasurinen.

you can check out more creations here.

let's go orange!

not YoNYC worthy (as it was out in jersey), but last weekend i went to the lacrosse big city classic. although syracuse lost to princeton (8-12) my cousin did score a goal. woot!
