i wish this was for reals, yo

i would totally road trip it down to austin, if this was real. (apparently, an art school project).

some days, i could really use one of these

my new obession

...is this cat. i could listen to his sweet, sweet jams all day long. play me off, keyboard cat:

summer of...

last year was the summer of iced tea. this year, i've decided that it's going to be the summer of fresh. i'm going to take advantage of the bounty of the season and eat as many fresh fruits & vegs as possible. started with a warm pasta salad with red & orange peppers, cherry tomatoes, spinach & arugula. yum!

fun with skymall

in addition to nashion, one of the highlights of last week's trip to nashville was the new spring 2009 skymall. enjoy a few fabulous items:

forget piggy banks;  your modern offspring can have their very own ATM.

neck hurt? try a cat.

what garden couldn't use a trio of giant marmoset?

are we sure this is going to massage your head an not suck the brains out of your skull?

admirable, but coco loco (confectionary edition)

i've never been a fan of gummy things. gummy bears, gummy worms, etc. but i get it...you have to eat a lot of small gummies to feel satisfied.

admirable to create a larger size. but, 1/2 lb? and on as stick? coco loco.

also, good to know that they are handmade with gloves on.

OPP, take 12

haven't posted an OPP in ages, so here's one featuring a young Brad Pitt...

He wasn't ashamed to admit his first love was go-karting. But he was embarrassed that his plaid shorts clashed with the red checkered flag.

who approved this? (convenience food edition)

a cheeseburger...in a can? call me a skeptic, but somehow i don't think it looks like that when you pop that top off...

speaking of meat...

this meatloaf pie chart made me chuckle:

a bit of brunch on the upper west side and then a wander through central park home...

(Mr.) Belvedere Castle.

Turtle Pond living up to its name.

The Great Lawn looking green (for now).

Happened upon an obelisk.

Post-modern sidewalk chalking.

Overheard: "Did you see that statue of the big Polish guy?"

Cedar Hill - one of my favorite spots in the Park - where, "passive activities are encouraged."

holiday weekend crafternoons!

i've have always wanted an old, vintage school map. unfortch, anytime i've come across them, they haven't been cheap.

miraculously, a few weeks ago, i found one on the street outside my church! it was partially water damaged on its right side - sorry, japan & australia.

but, a little field trip to ikea and some cutting and i have new artwork for over my sofa. (please pardon the cluttered coffee table and collection of plastic bags next to the couch.)

YoNYC #20

yesterday, i took a field trip to red hook, brooklyn to visit the new ikea. what could be better than a free ferry ride on a beautiful sunny afternoon? i even managed to not get lost in brooklyn for once.

waiting on the ferry.

all aboard...

give me liberty, or give me low-priced swedish furnishings.

red hook waterfront. the black dots on the bricks are actually patriotic stars.

land, ho.

in case you need to bundle up your purchases.

huh?

need a hug? want to give a hug? i don't know what the name of this half-man-pillow is, but it sure looks like it could be a skymall listing any minute now...this has "the new snuggie" written all over it.

oops, starbucks

looks like this batch of cups forgot to use the black ink, which should have printed the mermaid logo & checklist. good of them use be green and serve them anyway.

this made me smile

i always like to read bench placards. once, at kew gardens, i unknowingly sat at the bench that had a memorial to the same name as my mother. a little disconcerting.

here's a lovely inscription i came across online:

the look for spring

last season, reds were all the rage. for spring, it looks like nashville airport fashion - or nashion, as i'm going to start calling it - is all about a coraly orange, with an accent of navy.

so scarily bad, it's good?

it's no day after tomorrow. and i'm not even sure if it's for reals, yo. but this just might be so awful, it's awesome. shark? giant octopus? deborah "debbie" gibson? lorenzo lamas? you had me at "mega"...

YoNYC #18

back to the Guggenheim, this time for the opening of Frank Lloyd Wright: From Within Outward exhibition. great collection of drawings, plans, models & photographs. and neat to go to the opening night member's preview, to boot.

um...awkward

check out one of my new favorite websites (thanks, RB & RS) - awkwardfamilyphotos.com. each submission is truly priceless!
