...are open-top buses. i went on 3 in 3 cities over the course of the last month. maximized efficiencies by hitting all the highlights and fresh air to boot. love.

i totally forgot about how much i liked foo fighters and kinda forgot about them in recent years. i've been watching their documentary, "back & forth," obsessively - makes for interesting viewing and a reminder of some sweet jams.

...is, perhaps like everyone else, spotify - on demand music streaming. i have been listening to lots of old albums this week.

kick would definitely be one of my desert island discs (not that they have discs anymore). i remember seeing inxs live at the nassau colosseum - i think it was 1991.

my dad & i were backstage when they were coming through. everyone was ushered into a side room by security as the band didn't want anyone to see them (divas). i ended up next to debbie gibson, waiting for them to pass.

can't say i'm a superfan, but i've never minded the foo fighters. caught one of their earliest shows at the now defunct "academy" here in new york, back in 1995(!).

that said, i'm really digging this jam off their new album released this week:

not sure how this will jive with the "year of fitness," but my new obession is the ice cream maker attachment to my kitchenaid. santa brought that for my birthday.

so far i've only made one batch - strawberries & cream made from fresh plant city strawberries, direct from florida. it was delish!

i've recently rediscovered one of my favorite albums - loose, by victoria williams.

i had it on cassette back in 1994. the previous year saw a classic album of covers of her songs (sweet relief), but i quite enjoy her originals.

"you r loved" always makes me smile, as does the very sweet cover of "what a wonderful world." and "my ally," a duet with dave pirner, is one of the loveliest - albeit platonic - love songs ever recorded.

this sweet jam from arcade fire has really grown on me. plus, who doesn't love sequins, ribbons and l.e.d.-lit suit jackets? flossy, flossy.

the "year of fitness" is off to a great start. i am totally loving my compact treadmill. excellent investment (so far).

maybe it's the nashville influence, but i am really digging biscuits. i was never a big fan, but they've grown on me recently. i even whipped up a few country breakfasts over christmas break (belated posting):

is my zojirushi "fuzzy logic" rice cooker.

only tried white rice thus far, but it's fantastic. even plays a little song when it starts and finishes (oh so japanese).
