best. skymall. ever.

this holiday edition of skymall just might be the best ever. highlights include:

claimed as a cross between a skateboard & in-line skates, orbitwheels look like a invitation for broken legs, if you ask me.
meanwhile, a catnix partition by any other name is kitty jail.
is it just me, or is the lasagna pan (at $49.99) and the brownie pan (at $39.95) the same thing?
anyone for hoodie-footies?
or self-ordered dentures? please note that the cosmetic teeth are non-returnable.
finally, how about tex, the armadillo beverage holder? no?
can i interest you in bigfoot, the holiday yeti perhaps?

see - told you it was the best issue ever.

fun with skymall

you know one of my favorite part of air travel is the joy of perusing skymall. my faves from this issue:

facetrainer...not exactly sure what i'm training my face to do, but this is totally hot.

litter kwitter potty training kit...for your cat. (that cat's expression is seriously priceless, no?)

fun with skymall

in addition to nashion, one of the highlights of last week's trip to nashville was the new spring 2009 skymall. enjoy a few fabulous items:

forget piggy banks;  your modern offspring can have their very own ATM.

neck hurt? try a cat.

what garden couldn't use a trio of giant marmoset?

are we sure this is going to massage your head an not suck the brains out of your skull?

huh?

need a hug? want to give a hug? i don't know what the name of this half-man-pillow is, but it sure looks like it could be a skymall listing any minute now...this has "the new snuggie" written all over it.

i've joined a cult

sure there was the slanket. and, while a skymall gem, i did make fun of it a bit last year.

but, that was before it was ripped off and rebranded the snuggie. ever since i got my own for my b'day i've become a convert.

that said, enjoy a snuggie parody (hmm...maybe that does explain why i don't have a date for the prom):

happy feet and more

oh, skymall. it's been awhile. i forgot about how great your gift options are. here are a few fab selections from the most recent issue:

"happy feet" foot alignment socks

traveling pet seat

alien gnome bandits garden accent

the king...of crap gifts?

oh, skymall. you continue to surprise and delight me with your fine offerings.

last week on my flight to nashville i came across this bad boy - the singing & talking elvis. this animatronic bust croons eight tunes and even includes unique facial features like the king's curled upper lip.

a great holiday gift for the low, low price of $199.95

admirable, but coco loco (invention edition)

gee, i really love my scooter.
gee, i really love a frosty bev.
i wish i could combine my two faves.

well, look no further - it's the cruzin cooler! while an admirable idea - making coolers more portable - i think the verdict is coco loco on this one.

left or right?

i get a lot of catalogues and have started to get one from 'touch of class'. tagline: a home like no other. i'll say. while i will refrain from commenting on the 'class' part, i can say that this is the complete antithesis of my tastes.

that said, here are two of my favorite pieces - hands hushing sculpture and hand blowing kiss sculpture, respectively. i think 'touch of class' is going to give perennial fave skymall a run for its money.

ps - is it just me or does mr. hush kinda look like bill murray?

if only this blanket had sleeves...

but wait, it does!

why, it's the Slanket!

a blanket + 13" wide sleeves = yards of warm fleecey fun!

no more back breaking lifts!

another flight, another fabulous edition of skymall. this is one of the best pix i've seen in the catalogue in awhile.

it's the amazing forearm forklift straps

somehow, i have a feeling that this is either photoshopped, or the armoire is actually made of styrofoam...

got robohawk?

hate pigeons? for a mere $4,200 you can have your very own robohawk to chase the nuisances away. i'm surprised this isn't sold in skymall yet.

oh crap

new business trip, new issue of skymall for me last week. i actually think this is a fun gift - it's a breakout towable tube for behind a boat. i just love this illustrative picture. i don't know which is better - the poor kid's grip-of-death on the tube or the i'm-going-to-crap-my-pants look on his face?

i could also label this as i'm old, as i think this kid is way to young to be riding on this thing!

another rainy day & monday

today i was thinking that rainy, dreary days should be brightened by carrying a colorful, jazzy umbrella.

in searching for a pic to illustrate this thought i came across this jazzy invention - the ufo cap umbrella - jazzy skymall gift in the making!

today is...

sometimes, i talk to myself at work.

sometimes i ask myself out loud, 'what day is it?'

sometimes, my workmates answer me.

if only i had this - my newest favorite skymall gift - the dayclock! not only a conversation piece, it's a great gift, so says the blurb.

admirable, but coco loco (physical therapy edition)

haven't had an 'admirable, but coco loco' in ages, so here goes:

i understand self-medicating - bit of a cold, no need to go to the doc, i'll just take some nyquil.

but, self-physical therapy? admirable that you want to self-treat, but this contraption - called the Neckpro™ - looks like a recipe for disaster! i don't think traction is something safe to try at home...

proven: necessity is the mother of invention

today, i came up with what i think is a novel idea. i had a pencil, but no pad and needed to jot something down before i went back to my desk. but i did have my morning coffee i hand.

you have note cards, notepads, notebooks...why not the note cup?

paper coffee cup and pen on hand, and voila! instant note taking capabilities. we even built on the idea using a ceramic coffee mug with a dry erase marker.

i think we have ourselves a skymall gift in the making!

keepin' it cool at 80

you know i love me some skymall.

check out one of the newest products in their latest catalogue - the stealth secret sound amplifier. it's a hearing aid that looks like a bluetooth earpiece!

i love the double benefit in the description too: Now you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a more youthful appearance and better hearing.

that dude in the pic could definitely pass for 40 now. and i also like that he's trying to pick up a young blonde in this action shot.

another fun (crap?) gift

in honor of my sister flying home, and anticipation of her enjoying the new skymall catalogue on her flight, here's another fun gift.

do you ever think, 'gee, these two cans of soda sure are heavy'? well, fret no more because there's beverage buggy to the rescue. for the low, low price of $49.95 you too can have remote controlled relief.

a little sumo

outdoor life-sized yeti not for you?
how about a crouching sumo wrestler coffee table?
