YoNYC #27
it wouldn't be summer without a NYC street fair. unfortch, the one on my block yesterday was in the rain. but no worries - there was plenty of tube socks, sheet sets, bootleg CDs, $1.00 thai food, lemonade & mozzarepas go to around.

i get it, they're "world champions" (in a sport/league that features only one country, but whatevs).
but, the steelers' super bowl rings each weigh a quarter of a pound and contain 63 diamonds that equal 3.61 carats. who approved 63 diamonds?! just a tad extravagant, no?
this week's swap...
is a double offering: a basket of faux mini-sunflowers and a framed black & white pic of central park. as of this afternoon, the pic is gone, but flowers are still there, chintzing up the lobby.

YoNYC #23
got to play tourist over the weekend with dear friends, one of which was visiting for the first time from london. so, a couple of YoNYCs, starting with a circle line sightseeing cruise:

did you know that lady liberty's face is modeled after the sculptor's mother? she was a single mom and worked to send him to art school. we learned that from "dave." or was it "dan?"

my new obsession
are Flojo's Xena sandals. i've always been a Reef loyalist. no Havaianas for me.
but these Flojos are seriously the most comfortable flip-flops - no, most comfortable shoes - i have ever owned.
per the webiste description: Ever slept on egg crate foam? Yup, these are just as soft and comfortable.
so, so true.

speaking of shoes, this week's swap in my building's lobby is this fugly pair of shoes. at least they didn't appear to ever have been worn...?
cherries are in season!
summer of fresh is going well. cherries are in season - bought a bunch and whipped up a fruit crisp. threw in a peach for good measure. delish. that said, anything with a brown sugar crumb topping is bound to be tasty.
